A Top Safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have been awarded to five different Honda models. The Honda Odyssey was presented with a Top Safety Pick rating while the  Accord Sedan, Accord Coupe, the CR-V, and Pilot were given a Top Safety Pick + rating.

All five vehicles earned a “good” rating on each of the five IIHS crash tests in order to earn a Top Safety Pick rating. Additionally, the four models that earned the “Plus” rating offer a front crash prevention system that earned a “superior” or “advanced” rating from IIHS.

Safety features that come standard on all of these vehicles include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), dual-stage multiple-threshold front airbags, side curtain airbags, front side airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control, and Advance Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure.

Available features on each model include a multi-angle rearview camera and Honda Sensing™ technologies such as  Lane Departure Warning (LDW),  Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW).

“The fundamental notion of vehicle safety is evolving and with technologies like some of those in Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch, we are pursuing our vision to reduce and, ultimately, to eliminate vehicle collisions,” said John Mendel, executive vice president, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “This is one of our biggest challenges and an essential element of our commitment to making products that improve the lives of people.”
