1993 Honda Civic Coupe Featured In Retro Review
With the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe set to be released next week we thought it would be fun to take a look back at what was offered in this model back when it was first released back in 1993. To do so, we have shared a Retro Review that MotorWeek released that features the 1993 Honda Civic Coupe back when it was fresh off the assembly line.
By 1993 the Honda Civic had already made quite a name for itself in the automotive market for offering a full range of options and reliability that American car buyers were looking for at that time. When the Civic Coupe was released it took all of the features that everyone already loved about the Civic and added a new sense of style and flare with its two-door design. In fact, John Davis called this model “The smartest looking small Honda ever”.
During the test drive MotorWeek commented on the impressive performance capabilities, smooth highway handling, impressive fuel economy rating, and interior noise level that was the quieter than any other Civic model at that time. On the inside, MotorWeek commented on the comfort level, cargo space, and convenience.
Hear more details in the video below.
The 2016 Honda Civic is an incredible new vehicle that offers a striking look combined with top performance, safety and convenience. Recently, Honda teamed up with talented musical artist Moses Sumney to create a 360-degree music video featuring his voice talents and the 2016 Civic.
This new video shows Sumney standing in a warehouse as he begins beatboxing singing and using the Civic to help make some background noise. All of this is accomplished through a camera trick that allows him to multiply and have numerous versions of himself making different noises all at the same time. What makes this even more interesting is you can turn the screen as the video is playing to gain a full 360-degree view of the space and see all of the action as if you were standing in the middle of it as it was happening around you.
See this unique new video below and be sure to stop by D’ELLA Honda of Glens Falls to learn more about the exciting capabilities of the 2016 Civic.
Last month was a record-setting February for the Honda Division. With a total of 106,212 units sold, not only was this a 14.9 percent increase over last February, but it makes this their best February ever. This now makes this the second month in 2016 that the Honda Division has set a new monthly sales record.
The Civic was the best-seller for the month ending at 27,707 units which is a 31.7 percent increase from last year and a new February record for the model. The CR-V also set a February record with 25,250 units sold, up 13.2 percent from February 2015. The two other best sellers for the month were the Accord up 18.3 percent with 25,785 units, and the Odyssey up 11.4 percent with 8,994 units.
“Led by the all-new Civic, Honda cars are defying industry trends, even as our light truck models are red hot this winter,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division. “With more versions of the Civic yet to go on sale and an all-new Ridgeline on the way, Honda is primed for an incredibly strong start to the year.”

Five years ago when the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami took place, countless individuals were impacted when these two natural disasters tore apart the city leaving behind massive destruction. Following these disasters Japanese and U.S. governments formed the TOMODACHI (“friend”) program as a way of creating a cultural bond between American and Japanese students, especially those who had been most directly impacted by the disasters.
“The TOMODACHI Honda Cultural Exchange Initiative is an extension of our belief in The Power of Dreams,” said Steve Morikawa, vice president, Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility for American Honda. “Not only will these students experience cultural exchange while they’re here in the United States, but they will carry forward what they’ve learned back to Japan and throughout the rest of their lives.”
For the 2016 TOMODACHI Honda Cultural Exchange Program students from Japan traveled to Southern California during their winter break and through the New Year. They stayed with local families and attended the local High School as a way of learning about the everyday life of a typical American teenager and in turn, sharing their own traditions with American students. They also visited hospitals where they taught origami and calligraphy to children. The students even had the opportunity to help decorate Honda’s float for the 2016 Rose Parade to help mark the brand’s 55th year of participation in the event. The float was designed to represent both Japanese and American cultures and was called “Nature’s Hope”.
