The finalists for the Green Car Journal’s 2016 Green SUV of the Year® award have been announced and the 2016 Honda HR-V has been included on the list. Honda Launches Honda Road Readers App
Honda knows that the average family spends a large portion of their time in the car. Between pickups and dropoffs for school, sports, clubs, playdates, and family trips, your kids tend to spend several hours a week in transit. Therefore, Honda has decided that the time spent in the car could be used to help inspire kids to become more interested in reading and creativity. That’s why they have released the new Honda Road Readers app to help you provide a better selection of listening options for your travels.
This new app will be available for Apple® and Android™ and it will include 10 rotating National Teacher of the Year featured books along with a number of audiobook categories that include fantasy/adventure, mystery, science fiction, and teens. This new app is especially relevant in today’s society where a recent study showed that the majority of parents feel that listening to stories is vital to their child’s cognitive development and developing listening skills. Additionally, in a world that is run by digital screens, it is important to have an entertainment option that does not require the child to be looking at one.
“The goal for the Honda Road Readers program is to provide an educational and entertaining alternative to the usual car ride and inspire young listeners to vividly imagine,” said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President, Honda/Acura Regional Media and Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “This effort is a powerful demonstration of our commitment to the brand’s ‘Power of Dreams’ philosophy by encouraging our customers and their families to dream big together.”
Any Honda owner who is interested in this new app can visit www.hondaroadreaders.com to register and learn more.

The popular “What Makes a Honda is Who Makes a Honda” series has returned once again with the release of a new segment. Many Honda enthusiasts are sure to remember this series from last year as the brand released a new episode each month that featured one of the many team members that play an important role in the Honda corporation.
This newly released video features two product planners Tomo Yokoi, senior product planner for the next generation Acura NSX and James Jenkins, manager of Product Planning for Honda light trucks. This new segment focuses on them as individuals and the importance of their positions and how they work to help keep the company moving forward.
“When I look at the final product, I see a huge team effort, all focused on bringing the best possible experience to our customers,” said Yokoi, who also was the planner for the 2015 Acura TLX luxury performance sedan.
Said Jenkins: “I’m working on family-oriented products, with safety as the number one focus, but our goal is still to make driving fun. Seeing customers smile and seeing them come back to the brand is the greatest reward.”

One Direction Stars In New 2016 Honda Civic Ad
Honda has teamed up with the popular boy band One Direction in order to create a new advertisement for the brand’s spectacular Honda Stage. As the headliners of the Honda Stage 2015 Honda Civic Tour, One Direction starred alongside the 2016 Honda Civic in a humorous new advertisement that demonstrates some of the most impressive capabilities of this all-new model. Throughout the spot, we see the members of the band testing out this model and all its various components before giving it their official seal of approval.
“Honda Stage has enabled us to join forces with one of the most popular music groups in the world, One Direction, to help launch our all-new 10th-Generation Civic to a new generation of buyers,” said Tom Peyton, assistant vice president of Advertising and Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Honda Stage really is the culmination of our deep rooted history in music, starting with Civic Tour 15 years ago, and now comes full circle with a fun brand campaign introducing the exciting 2016 Civic.”
The release of this new spot also coincides with the release of One Direction’s 5th album, Made In The A.M.
Safety First When it Comes to the Honda Pilot
The 2016 Honda Pilot offers the Road Departure Mitigation system (RDM) in order to help the driver stay on the right track. It utilizes the same windshield mounted camera used by the Lane Departure System that has the ability to detect yellow and white painted lines, including the cat’s eye markers, and Botts’ Dots (reflective raised nodules).
The system becomes engaged once you reach a driving speed of anywhere from 45 to 90 mph. At that point, if it detects that you are leaving your lane without the use of the turn signal, the vehicle will alert the driver by vibrating the steering wheel rapidly. If no action is taken by the driver and the vehicle detects a possible collision, the system may apply the brakes on its own. This feature can be easily turned-on and off by using its convenient push button, located to the left of the driver’s column. You can also adjust the settings found on the MID (Multi-Informational Display) system in order to fine tune the guidelines and alert sensitivities.
When you come to D’ELLA Honda of Glens Falls and test drive your Honda Pilot, our informative staff will be able to teach you all about this innovative feature.
