The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has presented the 2016 Honda Pilot with a Top Safety Pick + rating when it is equipped with the optional front crash prevention. In order to earn this distinction, the 2016 Pilot had to earn a GOOD rating in five of the IIHS crash tests including the small overlap frontal crash test. Additionally, their front crash prevention system needed to earn an advanced or superior rating.
“The 2016 Pilot is not only the most technologically advanced Honda vehicle on the road today, but the top choice for family SUV buyers interested in safety performance,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager. “No other midsize mainstream SUV on the market today can match the comprehensive suite of Honda Sensing™ advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies on the new Honda Pilot.”
The 2016 Honda Pilot comes equipped with standard safety features such as rearview cameras, frontal airbags, side airbags, side-curtain airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) electronic stability control system, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist.
Along with the standard safety features, 2016 Honda Pilot EX and higher trims include Honda Sensing™ which includes systems such as Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
