With the concern about the accuracy of autonomous vehicles, Honda is going above and beyond to simulate real life situations while testing out their vehicles. However, testing these cars does come with its own set of challenges. It’s important for the vehicles to be tested on the roads they’ll be driving, however at this stage, it puts other cars and vehicles at risk.
Thankfully, the team at Honda has found the perfect solution to this: the GoMentum Station. This station is a five-acre town that used to house military personnel and their family as a Naval base. It has since been abandoned, but offers 20 different road types, with intersections, buildings, and imperfect roads – just like the real world! – making it the perfect testing ground for Honda’s autonomous vehicles.
We are so excited to see what the future of autonomous vehicles brings! While we wait, make sure to check out the autonomous-like advanced driver-assistance safety technologies on our New Honda Vehicles!
