I Lost My Dignity Somewhere In the Backseat: Reorganizing My Life Tidiness is decidedly not one of my strengths, but over the years I have gotten better at keeping the clutter minimal. However, despite my best efforts to keep it clean, on occasion, my car gets a little “out of hand”. Ok, maybe a lot out of hand, but I’m working on it! The point is, even though the current state of my car is best described as “there appears to have been a struggle”, getting my car back to its former splendor is something I can do, and you can too. Now, if your car is anywhere near the state mine is in, you’ll briefly consider taking a blowtorch to the whole thing and hope that something survives. DO NOT DO THAT. There might be approximately 5 billion tons of garbage back there, but laying waste to your precious car and having to deal with piles of ash and regret are not worth it. The first step is to sort through the clothes, garbage, and what little bits of dignity you can find back there and make piles of things to “save” and “trash”. But, let’s not fool ourselves, at this point there is no salvageable dignity to be found. Now that your car is trash free and doesn’t let off a distinctly 2016 level terrible vibe, there is a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. You can now start to vacuum up the dirt and inevitable shame that has embedded itself into the deepest parts of your carpet. You may need more than one pass with the vacuum, that shame is really clinging. For your finishing touches, you can use a slightly damp cloth and wipe down your dashboard and gently clean out the vents. You don’t want to use a sopping wet cloth as too much water can do more harm than help, and let’s be real, you won’t need much excess water because at this point tears of joy are streaming down your face because you’ve done it. Your car is clean. It is now safe for friends and family to enter your car without having to wear a hazard suit and a distinctly disappointed expression. But none of that matters now, because you conquered your car, and now you can return to your natural habitat, known as the couch, with Netflix and a taco. View Our Inventory

When cleaning your car you probably stick to the outside and windows, and maybe if you feel ambitious you’ll break out the vacuum for the floors and seats. Like most of our customers we don’t have time to detail our car every weekend, but there is one part of your car that we’re sure you’re forgetting about: the steering wheel. Your hands are on it whenever you are driving, which means that whatever is on your hands is now on the wheel, including germs, dirt, sweat, body oil, and who knows what else. There are only two parts to properly cleaning your steering wheel. The first is to use a damp cotton cloth with some leather cleaner on the steering wheel to wipe away and loosen any dirt or grime on the surface. Rinse the cloth and wipe away the cleaner before drying with a soft towel. The second step is for leather wrapped steering wheels so if you don’t have one. you’re done! If you do have one, take leather conditioner and rub it into the wheel using your hands. This helps to replenish the natural oils found in leather and will help to keep it from cracking and peeling.
