Honda FCV Concept

The Honda brand is known for creating some of the most innovative new vehicles over the years along with many of the newest technologies. For example, last year Honda introduced the HondaVac in the 2015 Odyssey, making them the first brand in the automotive industry to include a vacuum built into one of their vehicles. While Honda engineers may always have technologies such as this in the works, they are also constantly working on new innovative ways to improve the entire vehicle. As a result, Honda has put out a number of creative concept vehicles over the years that have helped to push the envelope in terms of technology, efficiency, and design language. One of the newest concepts introduced by Honda is the FCV Concept. This new model would be the brand’s first zero-emissions vehicle that is powered by Fuel Cell technology that is derived from hydrogen and oxygen. Not only would this new vehicle be much more environmentally friendly due to its zero emissions, but it would offer a driving range of more than 300 miles and a refueling time of only 3 to 5 minutes. For more information about this impressively efficient concept visit the Honda FCV Concept Page and keep checking back here for more updates on this model.

Honda Set To Reduce Environmental Impacts Again

Honda announced that it will be significantly reducing environmental impacts yet again with the help of its new $210 million vehicle paint system. The system will be used at the plant in Marysville, OH and will reduce energy and water use, CO2 emissions, volatile organic compounds, and paint sludge. "Honda is committed to delivering products that have outstanding quality and low environmental impact," said Tom Shoupe, executive vice president and COO of Honda of America Mfg., Inc. "With this new investment, our Ohio operations are once again raising the bar for quality and environmentally responsible manufacturing operations.” The process uses a shorter and more energy efficient method for applying and baking the paint. It will also reduce volatile organic compounds by switching to waterborne primer and base coats. The use of two million gallons of water, and the resulting 255 tons of paint sludge, will be eliminated thanks to new “dry-booth” technology and the two-step curing process will automate temperature control and ultimately enhance vehicle appearance. Construction of the paint line should be completed by the end of 2017.

The Future of Mobility Outlined By honda President Frank Paluch

As society continues to grow and evolve, the future of mobility is constantly changing and adapting, meaning that automakers everywhere are constantly looking to develop new and improved technologies for this ever-changing world. Honda, of course is no exception to this mentality, a fact that was outlined by Honda R&D Americas, Inc. President, Frank Paluch in a keynote speech that he recently delivered at the 2015 SAE World Congress. In his address, outlined the next 50 years of innovation for Honda and the automotive industry in general. A few of the key innovations that he highlighted include advanced collision mitigation capabilities, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure connectivity, fuel cell vehicles, high-speed, low-carbon, zero-collision mobility and more. "Our role as engineers, as an industry, isn't simply to pursue incremental advances for short-term competitive advantages in sales, or profit or market share," said Paluch. "Our more enduring challenge is to transform the fundamental nature of the products we make to realize game-changing innovation." These are some of the key points he stressed for Honda’s Development Future: By 2020 - Accidents involving Honda vehicles will be reduced by 50% through an omni-directional safety system connecting vehicles, infrastructure and humans. By 2030 - All road users including bicyclists, pedestrians and motorcycle riders will be joined through connectivity. by 2040 - Connectivity will lead to the development of accident-free Honda vehicles. By 2050 - Relational capabilities and advanced sensing will be used through a network of intelligent, interconnected machines to create a "Cooperative Car Society".
