The Christmas holiday is less than two weeks away. If you’re scrambling for some family-friendly activities to get you in the spirit, we have a few suggestions for you below. It might not be on Christmas but whenever and wherever it takes place it’s sure to put a smile on your face. Go Ice Skating - It might not be quite cold enough yet to go ice skating outside but there are plenty of indoor ice rinks in the area where you can practice your triple axel or salchow. Volunteer - Nothing warms the heart like giving back this season. Volunteer at your church, local food pantry, school, or favorite organization to help community members in need this winter.

Last week, the East Liberty Auto Plant (ELP) in East Liberty, Ohio began production on the all-new 2017 Honda CR-V. This SUV, which will go on sale this winter, has been redesigned for its fifth iteration and is the “best-selling SUV in America over the past 20 years”. "Our Ohio team did an incredible job as the lead plant for the global launch of this new Honda CR-V and we look forward to sharing this world-class 2017 CR-V with our customers in the U.S., North America and around the world." said Tim Myers, plant manager at the East Liberty Auto Plant. "With a first-ever available turbocharged engine that is also built right here in Ohio we believe the CR-V will continue to set the standard for compact SUVs." This is the first time a Honda plant in the U.S. has led the mass production efforts for a global model. Not only that but the East Liberty Auto Plant also developed the technologies and processes that will form the manufacturing base for CR-V production at ten Honda plants globally. The 2.8 million square foot plant employs 2,350 associates and has the ability to manufacture 240,000 passenger cars and light trucks every year. Honda’s environmental activities in North America for the past year have been detailed in a new report, the 2016 North American Environmental Report (NAER). In an effort to help reduce emissions and promote better business practices for the environment, Honda has pledged its continued support of the goal to halve total CO2 emissions from its products and operations globally by 2050. "From an environmental perspective, we are aggressively pursuing innovations that will help reduce CO2 emissions, which is society's most pressing environmental challenge," said Toshiaki Mikoshiba, president & CEO of Honda North America, Inc. "We are pursuing environmental innovation across all aspects of our business with a strong focus on improving efficiency at every stage of the product life cycle.” The 51-page report also features Honda’s stance on public policies as they pertain to energy usage and development of alternate-fuel vehicles and technologies. Some of the highlights of the report include a continued expansion of the reduction of the use of hazardous materials, increased its support of CNG-fueled trucks used on local transportation routes, a decrease of 10% in CO2 emissions in the production of automobiles, and a decrease in the waste sent to landfills from its 12 U.S. parts warehousing and distribution centers by 20 percent last year.
