Honda Set To Reduce Environmental Impacts Again
Honda announced that it will be significantly reducing environmental impacts yet again with the help of its new $210 million vehicle paint system. The system will be used at the plant in Marysville, OH and will reduce energy and water use, CO2 emissions, volatile organic compounds, and paint sludge. "Honda is committed to delivering products that have outstanding quality and low environmental impact," said Tom Shoupe, executive vice president and COO of Honda of America Mfg., Inc. "With this new investment, our Ohio operations are once again raising the bar for quality and environmentally responsible manufacturing operations.” The process uses a shorter and more energy efficient method for applying and baking the paint. It will also reduce volatile organic compounds by switching to waterborne primer and base coats. The use of two million gallons of water, and the resulting 255 tons of paint sludge, will be eliminated thanks to new “dry-booth” technology and the two-step curing process will automate temperature control and ultimately enhance vehicle appearance. Construction of the paint line should be completed by the end of 2017.
Short Film “Paper” Tells Story Of Honda’s Innovative History
‘The Power of Dreams” has been the official Honda motto for some time, and the brand has truly made an effort to build their image around the promise of a brighter tomorrow with the help of the dreamers and thinkers of today. Through a series of impressive and innovative new technologies released over the years, the brand has actually been living this motto since the brand was first established by founder Soichiro Honda. In fact, his start was formed by this motto when he sought to power his wife’s bicycle using a radio generator. Since that first inspired dream, the brand has gone on to create more and more impressive advancements including the HondaJet, Indy Racing cars, and ASIMO. In order to showcase some of the top moments in the last six decades of the Honda corporation’s history, the brand created a unique short film. This film is called “Paper” and it tells the Hond history in the style of a flip book using thousands of hand-drawn color illustrations created by numerous artists. "The goal is for the marketing itself to become a demonstration of Honda thinking and all the people that touch our wide range of products along the way," said Tom Peyton, Assistant Vice President of Marketing for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "This commercial stands for the courage and conviction to imagine and make dreams a reality and speaks to Honda's innovative nature and respect for personal achievement and contributions."
North American Honda Division Builds 30 Millionth Vehicle
The 15th of September marked a very important day in the history of Honda automobile manufacturing in North America; the 30 millionth Honda was produced! Eight plants in the US, Canada, and Mexico, have been working towards this milestone since the first plant in North America opened in Marysville, Ohio in November of 1982. "The production of 30 million automobiles in North America is the result of the support we have received from our customers and the communities that serve as a strong foundation of our operations in North America," said Takuji Yamada, president of Honda North America, Inc. "This is an incredible achievement by Team Honda – including the tremendous dedication and teamwork of our associates, past and present, together with our suppliers, dealers and business partners – all focused on creating joy for our customers." Honda was the first Japanese automaker to begin production of automobiles in the USA and has plants in Marysville, OH; East Liberty, OH; Anna, OH; Lincoln, AL; and Greensburg, IN. More than 97% of Honda vehicles sold in the US were produced in North America.

The first video below focuses on the Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers that are available on the 2016 Pilot. These unique wipers have been designed to automatically adjust their speed based on the amount of rain detected on your windshield. Therefore, you can focus on your driving rather than on trying to properly adjust the speed and frequency of your windshield wipers the next time you get caught in the rain. The second video focuses on the Car Wash Mode that is available on the 2016 Honda Pilot Touring or Elite trims. This new model has been designed specifically for conveyer-style car washes where there is no driver inside the vehicle as it goes through the car wash. The video offers step-by-step instructions on how to put this mode into action should you need it when you drive one of these two models. Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers: Car Wash Mode:
