Freddie Wynn, Senior Production Manager at Honda Power Equipment Mfg. (HPE) in Swepsonville, North Carolina is the latest Honda employee to be features in the company’s “What Makes a Honda is Who Makes a Honda” series.  Freddie has been a dedicated employee at HPE since the plant was first opened almost 20 years ago. Over time he has worked his way up to management from the assembly line utilizing his motto of teamwork. "If someone needs help or advice, we're all willing to shift hats and do whatever is needed to ensure a positive outcome," Wynn said. In addition to his strong role at HPE, Freddie also serves as the sergeant at arms for his local Civitan Club. This club is a nonprofit organization that provides support to a variety of organizations and events such as youth sports, Boys & Girls Homes of North America and Special Olympics. Additionally, the club also holds fundraising events such as their Haunted Forest throughout the year that provide financial support to such organizations.

For the holiday season, Honda recently released three new videos that will help raise money for three charities; Little League® Urban, Children’s Hospital of Orange County® and Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation®.  All three videos feature classic toys each singing out their own rendition of their favorite holiday song. This campaign, titled ‘Throwback Toy Tunes’ will run through December 21st. Whichever of the three videos receives the most fan views during that time period will receive a $50,000 donation from Honda. The remaining two charities will each receive a $25,000 donation. "Honda is committed to being a company that society wants to exist. And we are dedicated to giving back and bringing joy to people's lives," said Susie Rossick, senior manager at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "There is no better holiday gift than helping the efforts of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Little League Urban Initiative and Children's Hospital of Orange County and having some fun in social media while we're at it." ALG recently presented Residual Value Awards to three Honda models making this the third year in a row that multiple Honda models have been recognized in these annual awards. ALG uses a variety of vehicle factors such as industry trends, vehicle quality, pricing and marketing strategies, historical vehicle performance and production levels relative to demand to determine which vehicles will retain the highest possible retail value over three years. "Honda comes to these segments with great products and great sales strategies," said Larry Dominique, President of ALG. "With strong transaction prices bolstered by low incentives and very few fleet sales, Honda has continued to achieve top residuals with each of these vehicles." This latest three awards now make the total presented to Honda models by ALG in the lat 14 year 35. Additionally, the Honda brand has been awarded the Overall Brand Award 8 times. AUTOMOBILE has named the 2015 Honda Fit to their annual All-Star list making this the 20th time that a Honda model has made the list since AUTOMOBILE first started it back in 1990. All four models were selected following an in-depth evaluation and a range of tests performed by experts at KBB.com.  The factors taken into consideration during testing include consumer reviews and ratings, vehicle sales/retail sales information and cost of ownership information. Earlier this week Honda unveiled the brand-new 2016 Honda HR-V. This crossover is a completely new model and was shown at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. In a press release dated November 19th, 2014 the HR-V is said to "blend the styling of a coupe, the toughness, space and utility of a SUV and the quality of a Honda in one sporty, personal and versatile multi-dimensional vehicle.” While it is a 2016 model, Honda will launch the vehicle in early 2015 to take advantage of the rapidly-growing crossover market. It has dynamic exterior styling, interior spaciousness and has class-leading fuel economy. “The new HR-V crossover is a true segment-busting vehicle, unlike anything else on the market today,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and general manager of the Honda Division.  “It’s got all the essential elements of our Honda DNA, our packaging innovation, fuel-efficient powertrain technology, leading safety technology and, above all, Honda quality, to make this an incredibly compelling, sporty and value-packed new member of the Honda family.” More information will be released in the coming months and keep a look out on this site for a Research & Review Page detailing all the specs and features that we know so far. A total of 8 Honda models have been selected by Edmunds.com as a Top Rated Vehicle this year alone. The most recent selections for this award are the 2015 Honda Civic Sedan and the 2015 Honda Fit 5-Door. Edmunds.com evaluates approximately 200 cars and puts each car through the same tests and measures them against the same standards. Any vehicle that earns an “A” rating is awarded the Top Rated Award. Everyone remembers when pop group OK Go became a viral sensation 5 years ago when they released a video of themselves performing their song “Here it Goes Again” while walking and dancing a choreographed routine on a series of treadmills. In their most recent video, the group is performing one of their newest songs “I won’t Let You Down” while riding around on Honda Uni-Cubs. This new personal mobility device was released in a redesigned format last year further demonstrating the ingenuity behind Honda’s engineering. The American Honda Foundation has provided a series of donations to organizations that benefit military personnel and their families. These new donations are being provided in honor of Veteran's Day and the Foundation’s 30th Anniversary. "In researching unmet needs, the American Honda Foundation quickly zeroed-in on military personnel and their families, who have sacrificed for all of us and now need our support," said Alexandra Warnier, executive director of the American Honda Foundation. "The Foundation is proud to support these organizations, which provide the families of our men and women of the U.S. military with the gift of education, creating a legacy for the whole community." Here are three of the organizations receiving support from the Foundation: ThanksUSA - This organizations provides spouses and children of reserve and active-duty military personnel with need-based scholarships. The Foundation has provided $30,000 to be put towards scholarships for students looking to pursue a career in education or a STEM field. Folds of Honor - This organization provides family members of U.S. service members who were disabled or killed in active duty with annual educational scholarships. The Foundation has provided this organization with $30,000 to be put towards scholarships for education and STEM students. Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) - This organization provides children of Special Operations personnel who lost their lives in duty with educational counseling, need-based college scholarship grants and financial aid. The American Honda Foundation has provided $10,000 to support the SOWF programs and another $30,000 for scholarships for students looking to pursue a career in a STEM or educational field.
